Project Summary

Our curtain store in Dubai got the order for the supply & fitting of acoustic & sheer curitan in a bedroom. The project was for a place located at Creek Gate Tower 2, Dubai Creek Harbor. The owner needed a solution for the outdoor noise, daytime privacy, and to block out sunlight.

Understanding The Problem

The bedroom was facing the road and the neighboring tower which caused the traffic and outside noise to enter straight from the window. Morning sunlight also flowed in before the alarm rang to disturb owner’s sleep.

We did the free consultation visit and did the measurement for the window height. We checked the recessed ceiling channel and the wall space behind the window. We decided to extend the curtain beyond the glass to prevent an side gaps and improve the coverage.

We told the owner that acoustic curtains had mass, density, and multiple layers instead of the single fabric. The layered design was what would provide the noise, light, privacy, and heat protection.

Selecting The Right Combination

The bedroom featured cream walls, a tufted headboard, brown bedding, and pale wood flooring. The homeowner selected a light brown fabric with a soft matte texture that matched these finishes.

For daytime use, we added a white sheer on the inner track. It filters daylight while offering daytime privacy. The heavier acoustic drape sits on the outer track.

Five-Layer Acoustic Construction

Our workshop produced the acoustic panels with five functional layers:

  1. Light brown face fabric for the visible finish.
  2. Dense black felt for added mass and sound absorption.
  3. Cotton insulation for weight and sound damping.
  4. White felt for another internal barrier.
  5. Blackout backing for darkness and additional density.
  6. This layered construction created a heavier curtain.

Installation & Finishing

Our technicians protected the flooring and furniture. We reinforced the recessed ceiling fixing points to support the multi-layer panels.

The curtain track covered the full opening and extended beyond both window sides. This allowed the acoustic drape to overlap the wall, reducing gaps where sound and light could enter.

We hung the acoustic panels on the outer track and installed the white sheer inside. After adjusting the drops, our team dressed each fold by hand.

We tested both layers, explained their operation and care, and cleaned the room before final handover.

Project Results

  1. Reduced impact of road and neighbouring-building noise.
  2. Strong blackout window treatment when the homeowner needs darkness.
  3. White sheer curtains provide soft daylight during daytime.
  4. Extended coverage reduces gaps around the glass opening.
  5. Dense curtain installation helps limit direct heat from the window.
  6. Light brown fabric complements the bedroom’s warm interior.

The completed window treatment created a quieter, darker, and more private bedroom while keeping daylight available.
