Custom Blackout & Sheer Curtains Project in Downtown, Dubai

Project Summary

Curtain in Dubai received a project order for a custom curtain installation. The details were of a residential apartment located in Downtown Dubai for a project of sheer and blackout curtains. The fitting was to be carried out in the living room and master bedroom. We did everything from measuring, curtain fitting, and the final styling – all the work was completed on the same day.

From an Enquiry to a Tailored Solution

The homeowner contacted us looking for better nighttime darkness without sacrificing the open Downtown view during the day. We discussed the requirements in detail and recommend the homeowner our dual-layer curtain system.

It includes a light-filtering sheer dressing in the front for privacy during the day and blackout curtain in the back to allow complete room darkness for sound sleeping.

The apartment’s architecture had a recessed ceiling pocket that allowed us to do concealed dual-track fitting for a cleaner finish.

Measuring the Apartment

Our team visited the property with fabric samples and professional measuring equipment. Each window was checked at several points to account for variations in width and height.

We also inspected the ceiling recess to ensure the selected double-channel aluminum track would fit correctly.

The homeowner was satisfied with free fabric sample delivery, which they checked in natural daylight. The finalized the neutral blackout fabric and the soft ivory sheer. This unique combination complements their modern apartment interior décor while keeping the room bright during the day.

Curtain Design & Finishing

We produced both curtain layers according to the measurements taken on site. The sheer curtains were made with an S-fold wave heading, creating continuous, evenly spaced folds across the window.

The blackout curtains were given additional fullness for a richer appearance and designed to close from the center. Extra side returns helped reduce light entering around the edges.

Both layers received carefully finished hems to keep the fabric hanging straight, even when the apartment’s air conditioning was running.

Installation Day

Our installation team arrived early and protected the flooring before beginning work. The concealed double track was secured inside the ceiling recess and carefully levelled across the entire window span.

After the track was fitted, we started by hanging blackout panels and sheers curtains followed after them. Every wave was manually arranged to create consistent spacing from one end to the other.

We did a quality check for the open/close position of these drapes while allowing for proper floor clearance.

Our installation team, following any adjustment, left the work area clean.
