Sheer & Blackout Curtains Project in Wadi Al-Safa, Dubai

Project Overview

Our curtain store recently got an order to complete a custom window treatment project for a private villa. The location was in Wadi Al-Safa Dubai for a master bedroom with project requirements including a solution for nighttime darkness and complete window privacy during the day. Our curtain fitting team completed this project with precision measurements for both curtain fabrics & installation within a day.

Understanding the Homeowner’s Needs

The homeowner contacted us after struggling with excessive morning sunlight. His existing curtains allowed brightness to enter around the sides and above the fabric, making the bedroom uncomfortable during the early hours.

He also wanted privacy during daylight without completely blocking natural illumination. We did a free home visit and assessed the room to determine the general direction for the sunlight inflow. We marked the areas which caused the light leaking gaps.

Selection For Fabrics & Colors

We told the homeowner that there is no need to visit our showroom. Our curtain expert took the fabric and color swatches directly to their villa. This allowed them to compared color ands and fabric textures with the existing bedroom theme of blue & coral walls.

For the blackout layer, we recommended a rich navy triple-weave fabric. Its dense construction provided strong light control while adding depth to the room’s colour scheme.

For the day usage, we offered a layering with ivory linen-blend sheer drapes. The warm ivory shade helped soften the inflow of strong sunlight and allowed privacy to make my bedroom feel closed off.

The homeowner approved the combination after comparing the samples under natural light.

Taking Accurate Measurements

Our team measured the complete window area rather than limiting measurements to the glass. The opening was approximately 4.2 metres wide with a 2.9 metre drop.

We checked the width and height at multiple points to account for minor ceiling variations. We also planned a wider 5-metre track, allowing the curtains to stack beyond the glass and keep the window area unobstructed when open.

The mounting position was raised into the ceiling cove to eliminate the upper light gap.

Curtain Design & Installation

We installed a concealed dual-track system within the ceiling cove. The sheer curtain operates on the inner track, while the blackout panels run along the outer track.

Both layers feature an S-fold heading, creating regular, flowing folds across the full window. Additional fabric fullness gives the blackout panels a substantial appearance rather than leaving them stretched flat.

Our installation crew arrived at 9 a.m., secured the tracks, hung both curtain layers, steamed the fabric, and carefully dressed every fold. We completed final checks and cleaned the room before handover.
